My Story:
My passion for becoming a doula began as I completed my massage therapy
education in Coeur d’Alene Idaho. Once I took the pre-natal massage class, I knew
immediately that I wanted to work with pregnant women. After completing my
education, I became a massage therapist in 2004. Finally getting my hands on
pregnant women I became fascinated with my pregnant clients as they shared
their stories about this magical time in their life.
For years now I have massaged my pregnant clients; watching them grow,
soothing their aches and pains, and finally giving birth to their little bundles of joy.
Even more than just my massage clients, watching my friends and family go
through labor compounded my desire to become a doula. As I speak to these
women and observe their pregnancies, I realize that I can help with much more
than just their physical pain. As a doula I can help these women achieve the labor
they desire.
I want to be able to provide support to a mother, as well as nurture her through
the process of labor. My role is to educate women on the choices they have, so
that they may have the best experience possible. I have no judgment for a
mother’s choices about her personal birth plan. I merely lend my expertise, my list
of resources, my contacts and my books, so that she may make an informed
decision on what options she feels are the best for her.
In May 2009, I completed the doula workshop, and am currently working on the
necessary requirements to become a certified doula through DONA. I plan to draw
on my skills as a massage therapist and offer birthing packages that include both
pre and post-natal massage. I am excited to be in this field working with other
doulas and healthcare professionals helping to make birthing an amazing
experience for every individual woman.
Birthing Packages:
You can help me work toward my DONA certification by signing up for my
artificially low priced birthing packages. Once I am certified, my packages will have
to increase to standard doula prices.Even though I have not received my
certification you will receive the same quality of care you would from a certified
doula.
Package 1 includes - $500:
--A free consultation to get to know each other and make sure we are a good fit
--(2) one to one and a half hour meetings during the third trimester
--On-call 24/7 two weeks prior to the due date
--Available to you at the onset of labor through the birth and for immediate
postpartum care
--(1) postpartum debriefing where I will answer any post-natal questions or
concerns you may have (additional meeting may be requested)
--Access to my library and list of resources
--Available for questions or concerns via cell phone, email, texting

1 - 60 minute pre- or post-natal massage
